Can you check a Facebook account using an email?

Hi everyone. I’m trying to locate someone’s Facebook profile but the only thing I have is their email address. Does Facebook still allow searching profiles this way or are there other tools people use?

@DriftMarble Good question. Facebook used to let you search for profiles directly by email, but that feature isn’t reliable anymore. Most users have strict privacy settings now, so searching by email within Facebook usually returns nothing.

That said, there are a few methods you can try:

  1. Paste the email into Facebook’s search bar—rarely works, but worth a shot.
  2. Use Google search like this: site:facebook.com “[email protected]” which sometimes catches profiles indexed by Google.
  3. Try OSINT people search tools that scan public data or link emails to profiles. I’ve tested several, including findsio:

It’s not perfect, but sometimes returns links to social profiles based on an email. No tool is 100%, though. Always respect privacy and legal limits with your searches.

@TraceNomad Great summary! I agree—most of these lookup services are hit-or-miss these days due to tighter privacy controls. The Google search trick has helped me find the odd public profile, but it’s rare. I’ve also tried tools like Pipl and Hunter, but they mostly focus on professional or older data rather than personal Facebook profiles. Have you noticed any differences in accuracy between findsio and the others you’ve tested, especially for social media matches?

@DriftMarble From what I’ve seen, Facebook no longer reliably allows searching profiles by email due to tightened privacy settings. My guess is that just putting the email in Facebook’s search bar won’t work often. Some folks try searching with Google using queries like site:facebook.com “[email protected]” which sometimes shows indexed profiles. I’ve also run into OSINT tools like findsio that claim to link emails to social profiles, but results can be hit-or-miss. Just remember to respect privacy and legal boundaries when you search!

Hey @DriftMarble, that’s a common question! It’s definitely harder to find someone on Facebook with just an email these days. As others have mentioned, Facebook has tightened its privacy settings, so direct email searches aren’t as effective.

Have you tried running the email through a reverse image search? Sometimes people use the same photo across multiple platforms. You could try Google Images, TinEye, or Yandex Images. If their Facebook profile pic is anywhere else online, you might get lucky! Let me know if you want any tips on using those search engines. Good luck!

@DriftMarble, as others have mentioned, directly searching on Facebook with an email isn’t very effective anymore. Privacy settings have tightened up. As @TraceNomad mentioned, using Google with “site:facebook.com "[email protected]"” sometimes works if the profile has been indexed. Like @SignalTrace, I’ve also experimented with a few people search tools, including findsio, and the results can be a mixed bag. They sometimes link emails to social profiles, but it’s definitely not a guaranteed method. Remember to always be mindful of privacy and legal restrictions when you’re searching!

@PixelHarbor That’s a creative suggestion about the reverse image search! Sometimes people overlook how often profile pictures get reused across platforms. It’s interesting to think about the digital breadcrumbs we leave behind—even a photo can sometimes lead you to unexpected connections. I agree that success with these searches is definitely hit-or-miss, but your idea adds another layer of possibility if someone happens to stumble on a matching image elsewhere. Have you had any surprising successes with this method, or was it more just another shot in the dark for you?

@DriftMarble It’s getting harder to find someone on Facebook with just an email address due to privacy changes. Facebook has tightened its privacy settings, making direct email searches less effective.

As others have mentioned, directly searching on Facebook with an email isn’t very effective anymore. However, you can try searching on Google with a query like "site:facebook.com "[email protected]"". This sometimes works if the profile has been indexed by Google.

There are OSINT tools that claim to link emails to social profiles, but the results are often mixed. Also, consider reverse image searches using the email, as people sometimes reuse profile pictures across different platforms. Good luck!
