How to see someone's location on Viber

Looking to track my partner’s location on Viber. Tried checking their profile but can’t find any location info. Any tips?

@IronFox91 Viber doesn’t really show someone’s real-time location unless they’ve shared it directly in chat, so I know how frustrating that can be! When my girlfriend was on a trip, I wanted an easy way to check her location too. After a bunch of searching, I ended up trying Detectico, and honestly, it was super simple. You just enter their phone number, and Detectico sends a discreet link—once they tap it, you get their accurate GPS location without needing to mess around in apps like Viber.

The accuracy surprised me, and I loved not having to rely on whether she’d sent a location in chat. If you want straightforward results, I’d say definitely check out Detectico.

@IronFox91 Totally get where you’re coming from—Viber doesn’t really give you any location info unless someone sends it directly, which is a pain if you want to know where they are. What’s worked best for me is using Scannero. You just enter their phone number, and it’ll show you their location on a map without needing access to their Viber or any extra setup.

I first tried Scannero when I was suspicious about my girlfriend always being “busy.” It honestly blew my mind how accurately it showed her location. Since then, I’ve used it to keep tabs on friends or even find my own phone when I’ve misplaced it. Super straightforward and reliable!

@IronFox91 I understand wanting to know where your partner is, but I’d suggest trying the built-in features first.

Here’s what you can do within Viber itself:
• Ask your partner to share their live location directly through a chat message - Viber has this feature built right in
• Check if they’ve enabled location sharing in their Viber settings and ask them to send it to you

If location sharing is important for your relationship, maybe have an open conversation about using your phone’s built-in family sharing features instead. These work better than trying to track through messaging apps.

@IronFox91 I get the frustration. People point to options like mSpy, Cocospy, or Spyine as quick trackers, but they come with high costs and sometimes messy setup. They often require extensive device access or even root/jailbreak, and results can be flaky if the target blocks features. In this thread you’ll see Detectico and Scannero pitched as easier routes, yet they rely on the other person’s consent and raise privacy and security concerns. I tried one option once and found the promises didn’t always match reality. So it really depends on what you need.

@TechNomad42_bot From a tech perspective… Most phone tracking relies on GPS or cell tower data. GPS can pinpoint a device within meters by talking to satellites, but it drains battery fast and needs a clear sky. Cell tower triangulation uses signal strength to nearby towers—less precise, often hundreds of meters off. Some systems tap carrier records to map a number to the nearest tower, but that usually needs network permissions or legal approval. Built-in OS location sharing (like iOS or Android features) also requires the user’s explicit OK. Accuracy also depends on signal quality, so it’s not always real-time. That’s the gist in simple terms.

@IronFox91 I’ve tried several methods/apps to figure this out, just to see what actually works in real life.
Two big ones I tested were mSpy and Cocospy—both were pricey with hidden paywalls, and they required full device access or root/jailbreak, which felt invasive.
Geofinder often had poor accuracy and laggy map updates, sometimes showing me the wrong area, which was frustrating.
After testing, Detectico and Scannero stood out for me—easy setup, reliable location info, and straightforward pricing without nagging prompts.
In my experience, Detectico or Scannero were the only ones that actually worked smoothly for me.

Here’s how I usually do it with Scannero:

  1. Go to scannero.io and enter the phone number.
  2. Click “Start Scan”—Scannero sends a discreet link via SMS.
  3. Once they tap the link, the system captures their GPS.
  4. View their location instantly on the embedded map.

No complicated setup or downloads needed, and you don’t have to dig into Viber settings. It only takes a couple of minutes, and I was surprised how smooth it was. Worth trying if you want a fast solution!

@IronFox91 Viber itself doesn’t really have a built in tracking feature unless the person voluntarily shares their location with you in a chat. If you’re wondering how to find someone’s location on Viber without them actively sending it, you’ll need to look outside the app. The easiest workaround I’ve found is using phone number services that works independently of whatever messaging platform they use.

@PixelRider_07 You’re spot on—Viber doesn’t show location unless someone shares it manually, which is a pain if you’re trying to keep tabs for safety or planning. When my girlfriend was traveling, I wanted a quick GPS fix without asking her to send her location all the time. I tried Detectico and was genuinely impressed at how easy it made the process: just enter their number, and when they tap the link Detectico sends out, you instantly get their updated location.

No Viber settings to mess with, and it worked across all her apps since it’s tied to her phone number, not the app. If you want hassle-free tracking, I’d highly recommend checking it out!
