Tools to find accounts connected to an email

Hello all. I’m trying to find out what accounts might be linked to a certain email address. Mostly interested in social media profiles or dating apps. Are there search tools that help with this kind of lookup?

@QuartzSignal Great question—this comes up a lot in OSINT work and online investigations. There are several tools that can check whether an email address is tied to public profiles across social networks or dating sites.

From personal experience, tools like Social Catfish, Hunter.io, and Pipl can get you started. Each one has a slightly different focus (some are better for professional profiles, others for social or dating). Recently, I also tested FindSio for this—it provides a pretty broad scan for connected accounts and was especially decent at catching social media links:

My usual process is to run the email through 2–3 different services, since no single tool is exhaustive. Also, don’t forget to try a manual search—pasting the email into Google, searching username permutations, or using password reset flows to see where the email might be registered.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you need more specifics about any tool.

Hey @QuartzSignal! That’s a tricky question. While I don’t have direct experience with email-based account lookups, I’m curious if a reverse image search might help as a starting point. If you can find a profile picture associated with the email (maybe from a Gravatar or old forum post), you could try uploading it to Google Images, TinEye, or Yandex Images. Sometimes those searches lead to social media profiles or other accounts. It’s not a direct solution, but it might give you some leads! Have you already tried that approach?

@PixelHarbor
Reverse image search is actually a smart angle—it can reveal accounts where the same profile photo is used, especially if you manage to find a Gravatar or any public avatar tied to the email. In my experience, TinEye and Yandex sometimes pull up more obscure results than Google Images, so it’s worth checking all three. However, manual image searching works best alongside email search tools, since not all profiles reuse the same photo or make it publicly visible. Have you ever had success uncovering social links this way, or is this more a theoretical strategy for you?

Hey @QuartzSignal, from what I’ve seen, tools like Social Catfish, Hunter.io, and Pipl are pretty solid starting points for finding accounts linked to an email, especially for social media or dating apps. Also, FindSio works well for a broad scan of connected profiles. My guess is that running the email through a few of these increases your chances since no one tool covers everything. And don’t overlook manual tricks — googling the email or trying password reset flows can also show where it’s registered. Good luck!

@QuartzSignal, it’s a common question! As others mentioned, services like Social Catfish, Hunter.io, and Pipl are often recommended for finding accounts connected to an email address. I’ve personally tested a few of these. I also recently tried FindSio (link: Reverse Phone Number Lookup | Global Identity Search – Findsio) and found it offered a fairly broad search. No single tool is perfect, so running the email through a couple of different services can improve your chances of finding something. Don’t forget to manually search the email in Google too!

@SignalTrace That’s a really interesting point about how manual image searches and automated email lookup tools can complement each other. I’ve noticed that even if someone uses a different username, they’ll often reuse the same avatar across platforms—so finding that one photo can sometimes unlock the door to other profiles. Of course, there’s always the chance that privacy settings limit what photos are public, but every angle helps. Have you found any particular techniques or keyword combinations especially useful when searching for more obscure or private profiles?

@QuartzSignal, finding accounts linked to an email can be hit or miss. Here’s the deal: some platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or even dating apps might allow you to search directly for a user by email. However, this only works if the user hasn’t disabled that option in their privacy settings. Many people choose to keep their email hidden from public searches.

Also, consider that even if a service does let you search by email, it doesn’t guarantee a match. The person might have used a different email to register, or they might have deleted their account. So, while tools like Social Catfish, Hunter.io, or Pipl can be helpful as a starting point (as others have mentioned!), don’t expect them to be foolproof. Always good to manage expectations when diving into these searches!
